Meet Jamie
Jamie Bosten
A career focused on helping others
Jamie Bosten was born and raised in Muscatine, Iowa. His family has lived in Muscatine and surrounding communities for generations. He is a 1991 graduate of Muscatine High School, a1993 graduate of Muscatine Community College (AA and AS), a 1994 graduate of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Emergency Medical Services Learning Resources Center Paramedic Training Program, a 1997 graduate of the University of Iowa (BA Psychology) and a 2010 graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law (JD).
Before becoming a lawyer, Jamie started a career path focused on helping others. He was a lifeguard and camp counselor with the Boy Scouts of America during the summers and worked in retail food service during the school year. Jamie earned is Eagle Scout rank in 1990. Also, in 1990 he became a lifeguard and swim instructor for the City of Muscatine, where he would eventually become the city’s Aquatics Coordinator and Pool Manager. However, his time as a foreign exchange student during 1991-1992, when he spent the year abroad with the Rotary International Youth Exchange in Switzerland cemented his initial career choice. While visiting London, England that year, he witnessed a man go into cardiac arrest and performed CPR for the first time; and upon his return to Muscatine, he resumed lifeguard duties and immediately enrolled in EMT training, becoming certified as an EMT in 1992. He then started working for Riley Ambulance in Muscatine while going to college and working for the city’s pools, becoming a Paramedic in 1994.
After graduating from Iowa, Jamie’s professional EMS career of 22 years, really got going full-time. He worked for several ambulance/EMS agencies in Iowa and Montana before moving to the Denver, Colorado area in 1998. His career path in Colorado eventually moved him into EMS/Ambulance risk management, health care risk management and ultimately health care compliance and legal services. His last position with Pridemark Paramedic Services as Director of Risk Management spurred an interest in the law and led him to enroll in the night school program at the University of Denver.
After graduating law school and obtaining his law license Jamie moved into positions with less focus on risk management and more on claims in an effort to maximize his law degree. In 2012 he joined a large Denver-based law firm specializing in insurance defense work, and focused on defending healthcare professionals from malpractice and professional liability claims.
In the summer of 2013, Jamie relocated back to Muscatine, Iowa for personal/family reasons. He obtained an Iowa law license and accepted a position with UnityPoint Health – Trinity Muscatine as Chief Compliance, Privacy and Risk Officer and Director for the Medical Staff Office and Quality Services. Jamie eventually left the hospital and healthcare arena joining local law firm Stanley, Lande and Hunter in 2018 as an associate attorney with a general practice. He left the firm in 2022 for a corporate legal position, but he missed the personal contact with his clients and the feeling of helping people.
Jamie opened his own firm, Bosten Law Office, in March of 2023. Jamie’s goal is to provide affordable and top-notch legal services with a personal touch. He is a bit of a “concierge” lawyer, often meeting with his clients in their homes during non-traditional business hours. The Bosten Law Office is tech savvy, using web-based platforms for client meetings, telephone, fax, and text messaging. It uses the MyCase law practice management system offering an app and web tools for document storage, secure email, secure messaging, electronic invoicing and payment systems, and signature documents. MyCase also provides a portal where each client may work with their attorney to upload/download documents, send communications, view invoices, make payments, and generally manage their case.
